At Brilliant Read Media, it is our constant endeavour to identify and share some of the unique and compelling stories from the startup ecosystem. As part of this, we invited Prachi Puri for an interview with Brilliant Read Media. To say further, Prachi is an Entrepreneur and Founder at Giftytales. Let’s learn more about her background, inspiring journey so far and her advice for our growing community!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Prachi:

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

I am an Electrical Engineer by education, but creativity has always been at the core of who I am. That pull toward creative expression led me to pursue a Master’s in Fashion Management from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai.

I began my career in the kids’ apparel space with Gini & Jony and later moved to Dubai to handle planning for Babyshop, a Landmark Group brand. After returning to India, I briefly joined Snapdeal, but by then, the entrepreneurial spark had already taken hold.

I went on to launch my first venture, Rainbow Hues—an ethnic wear brand offering curated kurtis and dupattas across major e-commerce platforms. Over six years, I built and scaled the brand successfully, gaining deep experience in product, operations, and customer-centric retail.

My current venture, Giftytales, is especially close to my heart. It is a personalised gifting brand where I am deeply involved in every detail—from understanding customer emotions to curating hampers that help people express themselves meaningfully. It is also a fully women-led business, from vendors to team to founder, which makes the journey even more fulfilling and purposeful.

How did you discover your passion?

My passion revealed itself at the intersection of creativity, emotions, and problem-solving. The turning point came when I personally struggled to find thoughtful, meaningful gifting options that truly aligned with my emotions, intent, and budget. That gap in the market became my opportunity.

What began as a personal experiment—curating a few hampers out of sheer interest—soon revealed genuine demand and strong customer resonance. It was in those early responses that I recognised the potential for something far bigger than a side project.

That’s when I realised that creating meaningful experiences for people through thoughtful, personalised products was not just a hobby, but the work I wanted to build my life around.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

My greatest source of motivation comes from the people around me—my customers, my team, and the women I work with every day. Witnessing how a thoughtfully curated gift can create a genuine emotional impact continues to fuel my drive.

The trust my customers place in me and the commitment my team brings to the business constantly inspire me to raise the bar.

I am also deeply motivated by the idea of building something that is both meaningful and responsible—something that empowers women, values sustainability, and creates authentic joy.

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

One of my most important strategies has been staying deeply connected to my purpose. Whenever decisions feel difficult, I return to the “why” behind what I am building.

I also strongly believe in continuous learning—being open to feedback, adapting quickly, and not being afraid to pivot when something isn’t working. Persistence has been another key factor. Entrepreneurship is rarely linear, and learning to remain patient and consistent, even when growth feels slow, has helped me evolve not only as a founder but as a person.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

I believe the keys to success are clarity of purpose, consistency of effort, and the willingness to adapt. Passion gives you the energy to begin, persistence helps you stay the course, and adaptability allows you to evolve with changing circumstances.

Equally important is building with integrity—being honest with your customers, responsible in your choices, and respectful in how you work with people. In the long run, it is trust and values that sustain both a business and the person behind it.

What advice would you give to our readers?

Listen closely to what excites you and what frustrates you—both are powerful signals. Very often, your passion and your business idea are hiding in the same place.

Don’t wait for the perfect moment or the perfect plan. Start small, stay persistent, and remain open to learning along the way. If you build something with sincerity, patience, and purpose, success will eventually follow.

And finally, build consciously—in a way that is kind to people, the planet, and yourself.
